its officially christmas!! today i finished decorating my tree completely (it took me a couple of days this year with two little ones!) and tonight we went to the temple to hear our stake choir perform. its so beautiful with all the decorations and lights. i would have taken some pictures but someone is keeping my camera hostage!! (you know who you are!) i love listening to and singing christmas songs. this year is charlottes first christmas and shes old enough to enjoy opening presents and what not. i realize she'll like the wrapping paper more than the gift but thats ok! now all i have to do is finish (or start rather!!) my christmas shopping so i can relax and enjoy the holiday without stressing. rick has asked me not to buy him anything this year and im sorely tempted to take him up on that since hes such a pain in the butt to shop for. whats everyone opinion on that? do i take him for his word and not get him anything or do i ignore him and buy him some presents? what would you do?? oh i love christmas! i hope everyone is enjoying their holiday as much as i am!! merry christmas!!
this past weekend my sister justyn and i took our kids to get their pictures taken so we could get a nice frame and give our mom a picture of the grandbabies for christmas. (so sshhh dont tell her!) sophia is reliably difficult and noah can be hit and miss with his moods but my little charlotte is generally our dependably happy girl. well, obviously she forgot this that day! after sophia having a minor meltdown she finally calmed down and was ready for her closeup and after noah getting his tummy full he was a happy camper also. but my dear little charlotte was not having it. she was so sick with a fever and a cold and WOULD NOT smile. these are the best we could get with the group as it was. not too bad i must say but we never did get a very good group shot thanks to charlotte the stinker!
so i realize halloween was a little while ago but i wanted to post some pictures from our fun halloween party. we all got together at brad and allies house and it was a blast!! we had a pretty wicked golf course thanks to brad and an awesome dance party with jessa showing off her killer dance moves! thanks to everyone who came and brought goodies. so fun!!
ok so anybody want to trade me houses?!? why is it this house attracts every kind of critter imaginable? in this house i have had the typical ants, spiders, pincherbugs, cockraoches, which in itself is bad enough. but besides those lovely insects i have also had an infestation of fleas (i hate anything that can bite and draw blood in particular!), mice(not just one but a whole family i had to get rid of!) a bee hive in my roof which made its way into the house so for awhile i had a swarm of bees in my upstairs! (no exagerating here!) the other day we came downstairs to make breakfast before church and there was a bird sitting there on the ground (yes it was alive)! and then yesterday i get home from church and theres a lizard sitting there in my entry way! its a good thing im not the typical girl when it comes to bugs and rodents. although i did freak out over the ants (ok there were thousands!)and the fleas and the bees, i hate bees they freak me out! but everything else i simply scooped up and put outside. ill keep you posted on the next unwanted guest i find in my house! if i find a snake im definitely moving!!!
so this picture has nothing to do with my post but i thought id post this for graham. oh graham see what you have waiting here at home for you?? i bet you just cant wait to get home now!! isnt she lovely? hahaha! im kidding. we all miss you bunches and i cant wait for you to get home and also to meet the newest addition to our little family! we love you!
ive decided i think my daughter sophia has got to be one of the funniest people i know! today was my nephew noahs blessing and when i told sophia we were going to their ward to see him be blessed she said to me, "like simba in the lion king when they hold him up in the air? are we all going to bow down before him like in the movie?" she cracks me up. the other day she was sitting on the toilet going to the bathroom when she reaches behind her and pulls the toilet seat forward to rest on her back and i say to her "sophia what are you doing?" she says to me "im pretending im a turtle!" i love this girls sense of imagination and how clever she is. after church today rick and i were organizing a bit and decided to take apart charlottes bouncy seat and baby swing and put them up in the attic. i also went thru her clothes and pulled out all of her clothes which have gotten to be too small. it was making me so sad i wanted to cry! shes 8 months now and i cant believe how fast its all going by. shes crawling, pulling herself up to everything and cruisin around, and she already has 5 teeth! shes such a sweet baby girl and i enjoy her so much. im so excited to see all of the changes she is making but on the other hand i just want her to stay my little baby! i love both of these girls so much and am grateful to have been blessed to have them in my life. i love my little family!
so we actually went to disneyland a couple of weeks ago with brad and allie and justyn, dan, and baby noah but im just getting around to posting some pictures now. we had a blast! it was a really fun group to go with and i cant wait to go back again! ps allie i want a copy of the pictures we took at the front of the park with everyone!!
so every year one of the reasons i look forward to halloween is just to see what rick will come up with for carving his pumpkins. hes so creative and does such an awesome job. im a big cheater and use the stencils but if i didnt it would look like a 2 year old did it! so im always impressed with how good ricks come out and he completely free hands them. hes amazing! the girls even got into it this year! well charlotte crawled around the whole time but sophia actually helped out this year and picked the smiley face for her pumpkin. i thought for sure we were going to have ours smashed in the street this year but surprisingly we didnt. here are some pictures for your enjoyment!!
my sweet little charlotte sophia helping with her smiley face pumpkin rick gettin into his pumpkins the finished product! so this is the pumpkin that had me thinking we would get our pumpkins smashed!!
this weekend i went up to the disney hotel with my mom and sisters to a craftshow and luncheon. its nice to get a day away with my girls and not my LITTLE girls! thank you to my hubby for making this possible! we had a good time shopping, eating too much, and laughing our butts off over some funny memories (like my moms ugly pink flowered skort outfit i had to wear for 8th grade graduation. can we say hideous!!). my sisters are some funny girls and a good time was had by all! later that day rick, me, and the girls went to chuck-e-cheese with brad and allie. i think we had a bag of about 300 tokens, thanks to our good friend allie, and we used them all! thanks allie! we were there until 10, who knew they were even open that late. but we had a good time and the girls both slept in until 7:30 (thank goodness!!)since they were up so late. so all in all i had a pretty fun weekend. i cant wait until next weekend. between halloween on friday and our party on saturday it should be a blast!! here are a couple pics from my day with the ladies!!
i burnt a disc of some songs im liking for the moment and one of the songs on the cd is by a band called fiction plane. well, sophia has decided out of all the songs on this cd that she LOVES this song. so whenever we get in the car i have to listen to this song about half a dozen times. believe me im not complaining because its definitely better then listening to "hey hey you you i dont like your girlfriend" (which is what she calls it!) on her kids bop cd! she has no idea what the song is called or the bands name so whenever we get in the car she says to me "hey mom can we listen to that song with the guy with the dreamy voice?" dreamy?! where did this come from?! i have never in my life said the word dreamy! i love this girl! she definitely gives me something to smile at (or laugh hystericaly in most cases!). so i put the song on my page for your listening enjoyment. i hope you enjoy the song and his "dreamy" voice!
one of my favorite movies from this past year was a movie called Once. it had the most awesome soundtrack and actually won the academy award for best song. AMAZING!! well, the couple in the movie actually have a band called swell season and they are touring and playing some of their stuff and some of the music from the movie. they came to san diego and played at the SDSU open air theater last night so for date night rick and i decided to go down and sit outside and listen. we were enjoying the music but were a little disapointed to not be able to see them and hear them talk in between songs and of course we were too cheap to pay $30 to get in! so by about the third song these two guys come walking out and ask if we want their tickets. of course we said yes! so we got in and didnt have to pay! best date night ever! romantic venue and music without the cost! hahaha! they were awesome. they sounded just as good live as they did in the movie. and he would give an intro before each song and tell a little story about it and he was pretty funny and entertaining. i LOVE her voice. i wish i had the ability to open my mouth and have something so beautiful come out. but alas i cannot carry a tune to save my life! my poor girls have to put up with my awful voice whenever i sing them a song. so i posted a couple of their songs so you can enjoy them as well! cant say enough about the soundtrack, its awesome and a must have!!!
so last weekend rick and i went to street scene both friday and saturday. this is the first time ive gone and it was a blast! it took me a couple of days to catch up after having such little sleep for two days in a row. it sucks getting older, i could have stayed up that late for days and it wouldnt have affected me before. although it might have a little to do with going to bed at 2 in the morning and still having to get up at 6:30 with little ones! i was a little tired to say the least. but it was worth it! rick and i have been going to a lot of shows this summer. i think ive been to more shows just this summer than i have my whole life. it was cool to be able to see so many bands at one venue. some of the bands we saw were mgmt (well, really we just heard them from outside the gate but they were awesome!!), vampire weekend, cat power (not a fan!!), beck, tv on the radio, the whigs, tegan and sara, coldwar kids, and the national. vampire weekend was a lot of fun too watch. ive never been a huge beck fan but i love his new album and he was pretty entertaining. the national is really mellow and easy to listen but we had some nasty drunk couple making out in front of us that were pretty distracting. but i think my favorite was tegan and sara. total chick band, i know! but they were really good. hopefully we'll be able to go again next year and theyll have as good of a lineup. it was awesome!!
i forgot my camera like a dork friday night but here are some of the bands we saw sat night.
the cold war kids
tegan and sara
the national (sorry no pics of the nasty drunk couple!! hahaha!)
ok im new to the whole blogger thing so everyone will have to bear with me while i figure this thing out. hopefully i wont be too challenged and therefore annoying!! thanks anna for your help with getting started! any advice or help anyone can give would be great! im sure you'll all get very tired of hearing about my kids and what their up to but hey im a mom and thats how i roll. so you'll be very informed on the world of sophia and charlotte! well, i guess thats good for now since my 4 year old is whining that shes hungry and my 6 month old is trying to grab the laptop as we blog! bye for now!
